Senate Releases FY 2022 Appropriations Bills

The Senate Appropriations Committee released the remaining nine appropriations bills for FY 22 yesterday afternoon.

Included in the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies bill was $182.5 million for the National Endowment for the Humanities. This is an increase of $15 million over FY 21 but falls short of the $201 million included in the House’s version of the bill.

The Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies bill includes $74.4 million for Title VI and $10.8 million for Fulbright-Hays. This represents an increase of $5 million for Title VI and $2 million for Fulbright-Hays over FY 21 but falls short of the $79.4 million for Title VI and $13.8 million for Fulbright-Hays included in the House bill. Additionally, the Labor-H bill included $282 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This is an increase of $25 million over FY 21 and matches the House version of the bill.

The Financial Services and General Government bill includes $403.6 million for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), $7.5 million of which has been allocated to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC). This represents an increase of $26 million for NARA and $1 million for NHPRC over FY 21. The funding increase for NARA matches the House version of the bill but falls short of the $9.5 million the House allocated to NHPRC.

We will be advocating for the House’s numbers where they are higher and will let you know when your advocacy is needed.

For more detailed information, please see our funding chart.
